Sandy Springs Christian
Church recognizes that outreach is central to our faith and our
identity as Christians. We are committed to helping our neighbors
locally, nationally and internationally by doing hands-on ministry,
raising funds, and collecting supplies for various ministries and
agencies in Atlanta and around the world. The Outreach ministry team
encourages the congregation to think
broadly in terms of mission and to have a keen awareness of the word’s
needs. Our programs are consistent with Christ’s teachings to feed the
hungry, care for the sick, and love others as we love ourselves.
SSCC's hands-on Outreach Programs include:
Youth
Mexico Mission
Each spring, our High School youth travel to Tijuana, Mexico for an
incredible week of serving God's people. Working with AMOR Ministries,
we build homes for the poorest of the poor. This work camp is a life
changing experience for everyone involved.
Community Action Center (CAC)
CAC provides family services for people transitioning through difficult
stages of their life. Sandy Springs Christian Church supports CAC
through funding and food drives several times a year. We also have
representatives volunteering at the center itself.
Campbell-Stone Christian
Centers
Sandy Springs Christian Church members lend a hand at the
Campbell-Stone retirement communities by staffing the gift shop and
helping residents with errands.
Initiatives
for Affordable Housing
Our church members work with Initiatives to rebuild houses around the
Atlanta area. These homes are made available to low income families who
would otherwise be unable to afford them.
Sandwich making for MUST
Ministries
Ministries United for Services and Training is an interfaith
organization assisting needy people in our region. Sandy Springs
Christian Church works with MUST Ministries to provide funding and food
for children in need. Quarterly sandwich making days are held with 600
sandwiches made for the clients of MUST.
Foundation for Hospital Art
The Foundation for Hospital Art provides art in medicine, specifically
for children's hospitals all over the world. We provide financial
support and help coordinate paintings in our metro area.
Adult
Mission Trip
Members and friends of
SSCC will travel to New Orleans during Thanksgiving week, November
18-24, 2007, to aid in recovery from the Gulf Coast hurricanes.
Anniversary Weekend Service Day
Each September we have a service day as part of
our Anniversary Weekend celebration.
We're alert to opportunities to add more “hands on” outreach
ministries. Please join
us in service! |
