SSCC
loves God’s young
people! Sandy Springs has a dynamic and powerful youth
ministry! Our program challenges young people to think about difficult
issues and questions, to love themselves and one another, to learn
about themselves, and to accept God’s bountiful grace. Our wonderful
adult sponsors are dedicated to nurturing our youth as they grow in
their faith and to developing strong relationships with our young
folks. All are welcome in our youth groups! We love new faces!
Why We Do What We
Do!
The
purpose of SSCC's Youth Ministry is to EXPOSE you to the gift of Grace;
help you EXPERIENCE the wholeness that is intended for your life; and
EQUIP you
to serve in the name of God.
Your Youth
Sponsors came up with the mission statement to understand WHY we do
what we do. After much conversation and prayer, the above statement
reflects what our Youth Ministry hopes to accomplish in the life of
each of the students who participate in SSCC's Youth Ministry. We have
also selected a focus verse for the 2007-08 year:
Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message)
"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned
out on
religion? Come to me.
Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to
take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or
ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live
freely and lightly."
What
happens in the SSCC youth ministry is important – for you, for the
church, for God. We are glad that you are a part of this ministry. You,
each of you, are a wonderful, necessary ingredient in
helping us all grow closer to each other, and grow closer to God. Thank
you for being a part of this ministry!!

Sunday
School
Every Sunday at 10 am, our middle school and high school youth gather
with Greg Peterson (Mr. P) to grow in faith
together. We examine scripture and extra-Biblical material to discover
the ways God works in our lives and to discuss issues relevant to daily
life. Our goal is to give young people the tools to develop a Christian
identity and the courage to live their lives with the knowledge that
they are God’s children.
Intersections
Intersections is our dynamic, come-as-you-are Sunday evening program
for youth (grades 9-12). We meet each week that school is in session,
5-7 pm. Through high-energy fellowship, group building, crazy games,
singing and discussion, we address important life issues and grow
closer to God and each other. We bring tough questions, make
connections and grow in our understanding of who and where we are in
life.
CrossRoads
Each Sunday evening at 5 pm, Middle School
youth (grades 6-8)
gather at the church to connect faith with life. CrossRoads is packed
with games, music, talks and much, much more! We gather each week to
experience a God who loves us for who we are, not what we do.
Peaceable Adventurers Club (PAC)
PAC is
our Sunday afternoon music, learning, activities and adventure program
for children in grades 1-5. PAC meets the first Sunday of each month
for an afternoon activity, followed by dinner with Crossroads and
Intersections. Come join the PAC!
Youth Dinner is served on
Sundays at 5 pm for $3.
Guests always eat free!
Mexico
Mission
Each
spring, our High
School youth travel to the
outskirts of Tijuana, Mexico for an incredible week of serving God's
people. Mexico 2008 will be April 5-12, 2008. Working with
AMOR
Ministries, we build houses for some of the poorest of the poor.
Working with our neighbors in Mexico, we learn more than we ever
thought possible about ourselves. This work camp is a life-changing
experience for everyone involved. Mexico 2007 was completed with 39
youth and sponsors. To date, SSCC has built 21 houses in the
communties surronding Tijuana.
